thHDLC3H93As our plane hovered over the Himalayas as we prepared for landing. I was mesmerized by the glorious view of the snow-capped mountain peaks. The glory and beauty of the Lord displayed for all to see.

I was reminded of Psalm 19, which says : The heavens declare the glory of God;the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech;night after night they reveal knowledge. They have no speech, they use no words; no sound is heard from them. Yet their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world.

Since the beginning of time, the Lord has made Himself known through His creation. Romans 1:20, “For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities his eternal power and divine nature have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.”

All know there is a God, for the creation in all of its splendor declares this for all to see. Yet, the general revelation of God is not enough. “For faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.”

This was evident as we scouted out the area of the world the Lord was leading our family to. God had made Himself known through the marvelous mountains, and their snow-capped peaks. His glory revealed for all to see. Yet, despite the beauty, despite the glory revealed, the people of the Himalayas walk in darkness. The land dark, the people blinded by the enemy. This is a land that truly worships the created instead of the creator.

After two weeks we knew this was the land God was calling us to. For, though the glory of the Lord is available for all to see, this we know is not enough.

Romans 10:14-15, “How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written,”How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”

We go to a beautiful land and a beautiful people, yet a people living in darkness. We go because they must hear the Word of Life. We go because faith comes by hearing. We go because God has called us and is sending us out to preach the good news.

We invite you along with us on our journey to verbally declare the glory of God to the Himalayas and beyond. We don’t know exactly what we are doing or how it will all work out, but we believe God can and will use us to declare His great name in this dark land.
